Habits.

Oh, my dear bloggy friends.  I have some bad habits.  I like to eat.  A lot.  Not healthy food. Currently, I like to be a bit "lazy" {I say this with quotations because "lazy" for me is actually taking time to just relax even though I have a ton to do...something that is RARE in my household}.  I like to make excuses.  I eat cookies....a lot of cookies.  I'm hard on myself.  I watch a lot of "trash" {as my hubby calls it} TV.  I bite my nails.  I "pin" endless workouts and motivational pics/blogs and that is where they stay.  Is it just me?

I'm tired of it.  I'm tired of the excuses.
I am by no means a "fat" person...at all.  I'm not a skinny person complaining of gaining a couple of pounds.  I am asking for help.

I do enjoy working out once I've gotten into the swing of it.  I enjoy being in shape.  I enjoy yummy healthy-ish meals.  I just can't get myself motivated to do it.

I do not have kids...unless you count my two adorable pups.  There shouldn't be any reason for me not to get my butt in gear.

I'm in a rut friends...I need help.
I need advice.

How do you get yourself back "in the swing of things?"

Side note:  Speaking of trash TV...did you watch the Bachelor last night?!
OH MY WORD!
I can NOT wait to hear what Sean has to say tonight!

  1. Well, I am on expert, unless of course you are talking about being an expert on starting a new weight loss plan. Successfully completing, um, not so much!
As a totally, completely non-sports person, I 'discovered" working out at 26. I have not hardly stopped since. Slowed down now and again, but for the most part 7 mornings a week and anywhere from 0-5 afternoons per week. Right now I am trying to do 2X a day because I need to get rid of 12 lbs. So far I have lost ZERO (grrrr). Find your workout bliss - it's there somewhere. For me athletic style drills, kickboxing and some weight training. Find something you like to do, otherwise, it'll never last.
    Persistence and consistency is KEY.
Good luck - finding your soul mate workout :)

  2. Hi Kelly! I agree with Connie...find a workout you enjoy! I love yoga, running, and just started high intensity interval training with a great FREE app from Nike called 'Nike Training Club.' Switching it up keeps me from getting bored. I get up early in the morning and workout right away (so I can't make excuses after school). After school I try to walk my pups to disconnect from school. I am very passionate about eating healthy, so I just have to mention how cutting out some foods may help you feel more energized in the end. My diet is Paleo, which is no sugar or grains. I still enjoy cookies I make on my own with honey as a sweetener! Hope you find a way to feel better (and being lazy sometimes isn't always bad).

  3. I'm in the same boat!! Recently I asked a teacher colleague if she wanted to start working out with me and she said yes! I was so excited, because I know i need a buddy to motivate me and keep me accountable. We have been going to Zumba 4 days a week. It has been amazing. I am in love with Zumba and it doesnt even feel like a workout..it's fun!! I'm still working on the nutrition portion...its the hardest part. Maybe Zumba is your soul mate? :)

  4. Sad to say my gym doesn't open early enough for me to get a workout in before work, and I am too afraid of the dark to run outside before the sun comes up. So I pack my gym clothes and change before I leave school. If I come home to change, I rarely make it back out the door.

As far as the healthy eating. I started washing, cutting, and placing portion sizes in ziploc bags on Sunday and then I grab 3 or 4 bags to toss in my lunch bag. They are the first thing we see when we open our fridge. Now the pantry is my weak spot. Grr. I have a long way in the self-control department. Looking forward to reading about a tip or two that helped you create a new healthy habit or two.

  5. I'm stuck there with ya! I did Weight Watchers for one week and was rocking it, then all kids of life happened and I just couldn't get back into it. I WILL get there. Just don't know when!

  6. Goodness. I can understand this. Did SO WELL a couple years ago. Was in the best shape of my life! Felt so good, had energy, ate right. Did a couple half-marathons (and for a lifelong non-athlete? PRICELESS). Then came a season where I caught every bug the kiddos carried to school. Made the ginormous mistake of getting a flu shot three days before attempting my third half-marathon. Downhill (and up crept the scale) from there. Was trying to get back into things this fall/winter. Then had to have my stupid appendix out. Now trying to get back on the proverbial horse. GOOD LUCK. Share any secrets. I'm scared of your video that you got (already read the later posts). :)

  7. Alright, I'm super behind the times here- but I just got started on the app My Fitness Pal, and I am loving it. It's basically counting calories, but it's completely free and it's making me think about my portion sizes and choices. As far as exercises, I LOVE Zumba and I think a workout buddy makes a huge difference- but I haven't gone lately either, so I hope things are turning around for you!

P.S.- If you're on My Fitness Pal, you should add me! :) I'm luckeyfrog.
