Hoppin' around the room {FREEBIE}

Just stopping by quickly to share a freebie I just uploaded onto TPT.

I created this little cutie to use with my kinders next week as a writing center activity.  Before we left for spring break we were working on identifying words with short vowel sounds in them.  I also wanted to give my higher-leveled kiddos a more challenging task, so I included blends as well.

There are three short vowel sounds, they all end with the /p/ sound, and I included at least two blends with each word family.

I also created four sets of recording sheets.  I will differentiate in my classroom with these.  Some of my kiddos are struggling with the short /i/ and /a/ sound, so I will give them that recording sheet and they will walk around the room sounding out and sorting just those words.  I have several students who are in need of a challenge, so I will give them the recording sheet for all three sets of words.
In my classroom, I do not require them to write every.single.word, however I do require them to write the words they know how to read.  If they can't read it to me, then they can not write the word.  For my lower babies, I pair them with a buddy and they only write and sort two word families.  If they are able to write two words for each type of word then they have completed their task.  That doesn't mean that they get to go to the fun writing center, however.  That means they get to write and read some more with me! :)

Just a little tid-bit in case you were wondering...not that you were! :)

Well ladies {and gents} I'm off to go to a jewelry party and spend money I don't have! hehe! Don't tell the hubby!

Enjoy your Saturday!

lately and a freebie :)

We have been some busy little bees lately! It's crazy to think that there are only 36 more days left of school OR 6 more Mondays of school! :)  That is so exciting and nerve racking at the same time.  Still a lot to squeeze in!

We spent two weeks learning about plants and how to grow plants.  Here a few things we did:

Then, we got our lima beans and began our four-week seed observation.  Here are our "greenhouses" hanging in our windows!

Our bean seeds are days away from needing to be planted into our soil pots!  It's always a SUPER exciting time when we open up our papertowels to see our sprouted bean seeds! Every day is more exciting as our roots continue to grow!

In math we have been learning about 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional shapes.  We first did the marshmellow and toothpick hands-on activity.  Of course we had a blast AND I forgot my camera!
For the 2-D activity we created "Shape Creations!" For this we used 2-D die cut shapes.  We then used the shapes to create our own creations and then completed a corresponding recording sheet.
Here's a few that we created:

And here's the recording sheet for FREE:

The fun plant activities are just two from my Spring Fever unit.  You can find at my TPT Store along with my brand new Flat Stanley Unit!!!!!!! :)
{heart} some Flat Stanley!

Today is the start of a very super busy week! Phew! I'm tired thinking about it.  Hope you're week goes just as well!

Did ya catch it?!

So in my state of exhaustion last night I uploaded my new spring packet having read over every page 80 billion at least two times each and still had an oopsy...
AND it was on the cover page! Instead of "Spring Fever" it read "Sping Fever"
Oh. My. Word.
How did I miss that?!

Anywho..I've uploaded the edited version at my TPT store!
I'm so excited about it and so are the kiddos.  We started several of the centers today and will be completing the bean seed observation log starting Friday!
This is by far my favorite season! I love spring and all the fun activities that come along with it {and, of course, the weather too}

Ok.  Here's the updated version:

holy moly

WOW!!  What a busy {but not really} past week and a half!
Last week I was on Spring Break and I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed every. single. bit. of. it. SERIOUSLY...I did not do a THING related to school and it was FANTABULOUS!  I managed to do everything I wanted to do, which included:
lay by the pool
lay by the beach
accidentally get burned
drink fun cocktails
finish reading the Hunger Games series
go see the Hunger Games
spend countless hours browsing Pinterest
spend countless hours browsing BlogLand
watch reality tv
SLEEP, SLEEP, and SLEEP some more! :)

After all that relaxation it was time to get it together and finish my spring unit!
I'm so stinkin excited!  It's 63 pages of all things spring.  Well, not Easter.  I did manage to squeeze one Easter thing in there but this year I have a sweetie who DOES NOT celebrate any holidays.  Since I was creating this unit based on my kiddos this year, this is what you get:

 Find this awesome packet HERE!

This packet includes items for you to create these with your kiddos:

 I'm so proud of myself for really getting in there and finishing this massive mini-unit!  I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it!
I hope you find it useful and wonderful and cutesy...because that is my goal!

Today was a Teacher Planning Day and I'm so glad it was because I did nothing but talk all day and then in the last three hours of being there I squeezed in some lesson plans and a little "spring cleaning."
The kiddos come back tomorrow and when they arrive they will see our room in chaos.  On the Friday before spring break my sweet firsties spent HOURS creating leprechaun traps for the little sneaky leprechauns that were going to be sneaking through our room on Saturday {St. Patty's Day}.  SO, needless to say my room is a disaster {which I CAN'T stand} with green glitter, wrecked traps, green foot prints {will show pics tomorrow}, and a note from Lenny the Leprechaun!  PHEW! I hope they really go nuts when they see it all! :)

Okay.  I'm exhausted.  I'm suppose to be in bed by now getting my full 8 hours before rising to head to school but I'm too into Bethany Ever After right now {she's BY FAR my favorite Housewife gone MEGA-star!!!!}
